It is not surprising that Anthony Bourdain was #1 for CNN.
He was highly promoted on everyone's show.
And he has a following from another network which always helps.
We, as a nation, are Foodies and there's nothing wrong with seeing how others eat in foreign places of travel that most of us will never see, or taste.
Maybe his show should be repeated at the 10PM hour in primetime during the week. This would not only help the network, but would be something just a little bit different from the way other cable news networks operate.
So far Jeff Zucker's only accomplishment is how to copy Fox.
He can start with Bourdain, and call it 'innovation.'

AdAge has a fascinating article on the CNN ad revenue
plan with shows like this. As usual, this blog is way
ahead of everyone else. You guys have been talking
about how this will actually benefit CNN financially.
You guys called this one right. You have to wonder if
eventually CNN will have a different show each night
in certain hours. Parts Unknown did have a lot of
commercials. You have to admit the show hooks.
Maybe they are using the HBO,AMC, Discovery, etc
model. Original programming makes money. Lets
face it , way more watchable than talking heads.
Maybe CNN can do a summer concert series like
Today and GMA too. You can always get ad
sponsors for music.

TV Newser has even better news for CNN. Anthony Bourdain had the top demo this weekend in all of cable news and CNN had the top prime time demo average in prime time Sunday.

Viewers are sending CNN a message : give us news oriented shows rather than Crossfire. and pundits. What has happened with Morgan Spurlock and his show inside man. CNN is not just buying they are also funding. Bourdain has said CNN permitted him to travel to more places.

CNN would be smart to put Anderson Cooper and Strombo back to back on Friday. The shows are a perfect fit for CNN. Shows like this are game changers for CNN with both FNC & MSNBC being so strongly committed to ideology. The major problem with that is that you can't grow your audience.

I wanted to watch Parts Unknown but they seemed to run it only once that night and Sunday's a rough night with tons of shows to watch. I'm going to figure out a way to watch this. I don't have TIVO or other fancy tape four shows at one time deals. I'm glad it did well for CNN, I like Bourdain.

Anthony Bourdain repeats at midnight. That's when I caught the show.
